If you are producing a new play or musical in 2026, come join World Premiere Wisconsin!

What counts as a new work?

Our definition of new work is pretty broad. Your play or musical can be any length (for example 10 minutes, a one act, or full production). Your world premiere is eligible for the festival if it is scheduled between 1/1/26-12/31/26, and it has never been produced before.

We welcome artists who are producing workshops, staged readings, or full productions of a new play or musical.

Who can join World Premiere Wisconsin?

WPW welcomes all theaters: community, academic, semi-professional, professional, and self-produced. If you’re worried about whether your theater or production qualifies, email us at info@worldpremierewisconsin.com.

Does it cost anything to join?

It costs nothing to join as a Participating Theater. Accessibility to the festival is an important priority for our team.

If you’re interested in joining WPW at the Festival Theater level, we ask for an annual commitment of 1/10th of 1% of your budget, to sustain the Festival and help us grow. Reach out to us at info@worldpremierewisconsin.com if you want to learn more.

What do I have to do if I want to join as a participating theater?

As you move into production, the WPW team asks that you:

Use our logo in marketing for your world premiere
Tag us on social media posts @worldpremierewi so we can amplify your work
Include language about WPW in your curtain speech – live or pre-recorded
Allow space for a WPW infographic or logo in the playbill for your world premiere production
