LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
World Premiere Wisconsin has the privilege and responsibility to acknowledge the Indigenous people who have called this land home for generations, and that the state now known as Wisconsin is home to the largest number of Native American tribes east of the Mississippi River, encompassing 11 sovereign Tribal nations that abide by their own constitutions: Bad River Ojibwe, Forest County Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Menominee Nation, Mole Lake Sokaogan Chippewa, Oneida Nation, Red Cliff Band of Ojibwe, St. Croix Band of Ojibwe, and Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. No matter where you are in the state, you are on the ancestral land of a Tribal nation. World Premiere Wisconsin reminds each of us to take the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the history of the land we are on and the great historical, present, and future contributions of Indigenous people.
